Team Toyota: Solar and Batteries With $2 Million in Projected Savings

Team Toyota of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, paired a 700 kW solar array with 820 kWh of Fortress Power battery storage. Fortress Power publishes projected energy savings exceeding $2 million over 25 years. That is a forecast, not 25 years of measured results.

The project combines energy cost management with a microgrid designed to operate during utility outages. It offers a useful example for dealerships evaluating solar, storage, service-department continuity, and EV charging together. Backup duration still depends on available battery charge, solar production, and the loads being served.

What Arizona dealerships should evaluate

Start with the actual utility rate, interval usage, charger schedule, and critical equipment. Compare solar alone against solar plus storage, including financing, maintenance, and battery replacement assumptions. Savings from a Pennsylvania project cannot establish the return for an Arizona facility.
